Fun Interactive Story

Here's a tiny, simple interactive story perfect for kids in Scratch

Story Idea: "The Brave Little Duck"

Summary: A little duck has to decide whether to swim in the pond or take a walk in the meadow. Both choices lead to a happy, fun adventure!

Step-by-Step Code for Scratch

Step 1: Create Your Sprites

  • Duck Sprite: The main character.
  • Choice Buttons: Two buttons that the user can click to decide the duck's next move (swim or walk).
  • Backgrounds: A pond and a meadow.

 Step 2: Backdrop

Choose or create two backdrops:

o    Pond: Where the duck can swim.

o    Meadow: A grassy field for the duck to walk in.

Step 3: Code for Duck Sprite

The Duck Sprite starts the story.

  • when green flag clicked
  • go to [center v]  // Place the duck in the center
  • say "Hi! I'm Ducky!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "I need to decide what to do today." for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "Should I swim in the pond or walk in the meadow?" for 3 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "Click one of the buttons to help me choose!" for 2 seconds

Step 4: Add the Choice Buttons

Button 1 (Swim in the Pond):

  • when this sprite clicked
  • say "I will swim in the pond!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • switch backdrop to [pond v] // Change backdrop to the pond
  • say "Whee! The water is so cool!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "I made lots of new friends!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "What a fun day! The end!" for 2 seconds

Button 2 (Walk in the Meadow):

  • when this sprite clicked
  • say "I will take a walk in the meadow!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • switch backdrop to [meadow v]  // Change backdrop to the meadow
  • say "The flowers are so pretty!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "I met a butterfly who showed me the way!" for 2 seconds
  • wait 1 second
  • say "What a peaceful day! The end!" for 2 seconds

 Step 5: Final Touches

  • Sounds: Add sounds like duck quacks for fun, and gentle water sounds for the pond or wind sounds for the meadow.
  • Animations: Make the duck hop or flap its wings to add some movement to the story.

           Two happy endings:

o    Swimming in the pond, the duck makes new friends.

o    Walking in the meadow, the duck meets a butterfly.

Both endings are cheerful and fun!
