A computer is an electronic machine which can do various jobs.

- 1. Computer can work very fast. It can do calculations within seconds.
- 2. Computer gives accurate result. It does not make mistakes.
- 3. Computer can do millions of jobs without getting tired.
- 4. Computer can store large amount of information.

the parts of a computer?
- 1. Monitor: A monitor looks like a TV which displays images and text on the computer screen.
- 2. Mouse: It is used to select items, draw pictures and move cursor.
- 3. CPU: It is the brain of the computer. It gets data from the user processes it and gives the result.
- 4. Keyboard: It is used to type letters, numbers and symbols.
- 5. Printer: It is used to take printout on the paper.
- 6. Speaker: It is used to listen music and hear audio output.
4) To start a computer
1. Plug in your computer and all devices attached.
2. Switch On the Switch Board Switch.
3. Press power button of your CPU then computer will
be boot up.
5) To Shut down a computer
1. Click on the start button.
2. Then in the lower right corner of the start button
click on the shutdown option.
3. Then click on shutdown button.
6) Name some places where the computers
are used.
Schools use computers to teach lessons and prepare results.
Hospitals and banks
use computers to keep records.

keys on Keyboard
1. Alphabetical Keys: A, B, C………………………………Z are
alphabets keys. There are 26 alphabet keys on the keyboard.
2. Numerical Keys: 0,1, 2………………………9 are
numeric keys. There are 10 numeric keys on the keyboard.
3. Special Keys: There are various
special keys

Caps Lock:
This key is used whenever we want to type letter in a capital. To use this key press
it once. If the light is on it means the Caps Lock is active. If we want to
write in small case then press this button again.

Enter Key:
This key is used to finish a line and move to a next new line on the page.

Shift Key:
Shift key is present on both sides of the keyboard This key is used to type capital letters
and other upper characters on a keyboard.
· Space Bar: This key is used to insert the space between two words.
It is the longest
key on the keyboard.

Backspace:
It is used to delete any character before the current position of the cursor.
·
Arrow Keys:
It is used to move the cursor position in all directions (left, right, up and down)
in the page.
